Hi there, I’m currently based in New York City and helping businesses define their podcasting strategy and producing shows with my agency, Spotlight Podcasting.
I also run a weekly email newsletter about podcasting in New York called Podbrief.
How I Got Here
After growing up in a tiny village on the linguistic border in Belgium, I studied music for my Bachelors degree at Edinburgh University with a year spent abroad in Salamanca, Spain as part of the Erasmus Program. I subsequently did a Masters in Computer Science at Bath University.
My professional career started in London with a telecommunications consultancy called Cartesian, working on projects for clients such as Sky, Telefonica and Virgin.
In 2013 I took a sabbatical and travelled around South East Asia and met a number of location independent entrepreneurs practicing geo-arbitrage, lifestyle design and other concepts described in Tim Ferris’ seminal best seller The Four Hour Workweek. One of those I met briefly (on a boat party in the Philippines) was a chap called Ian Robinson, who at the time was interning for Chris Ducker, a British entrepreneur well known for writing probably the most definitive guide available on how to hire a virtual assistant.
After returning to my desk job back in London I kept in touch with Ian as he spun out his internship role with Chris into a podcast production agency which he named Freedom Podcasting. I ended up joining his agency, went fully remote and together we laid the foundation for the company, launching and producing shows for the likes of Tim Ferriss, Lewis Howes and countless others.
After eventually going solo and living the digital nomad lifestyle for a while I felt a bit homesick and decided to return back to London. Here I joined Startup Institute’s inaugural program, started the #techlondon slack community and joined IBM Softlayer as community development manager, running their startup program across Europe, Middle East and Africa.
During this time I met my future wife Johanna, who had moved from New York to study her masters in HR in London. In April 2017 we decided to move back to New York where we live happily together until this present day!
